What Is KnowHow NonProfit?
KnowHow NonProfit is a website built exclusively for the nonprofit community. It is both a free information source packed with useful materials and an online community, where you can interact with others working in the sector.
How could it help you...
JOBSEEKING is often frustrating. Make good use of your time and expertise by sharing your knowledge and experience with other people. By contributing to KnowHow NonProfit you will be staying in touch with the nonprofit sector (or learning about the sector if you are new to it) AND helping someone else with a challenge they may be facing.

Accreditation
Contribute to the discussions regularly and you will receive an accreditation from KnowHow, which will strengthen your CV when you apply for future positions. You can also explain your KnowHow work at interview if you are new to the sector – to demonstrate your transferrable skills.

How to do it...
Joining the online KnowHow NonProfit community is easy:-
- First, register on the site (this is quick, free and painless!) Remember to tick the box to say we can contact you so that we can inform you when you achieve accreditation.
- Then visit each KnowHow section (leadership, you and your team, your organisation etc) to see the recent discussions. These are listed in the green box on the right-hand side headed 'discussions'.
It might be that someone has asked a question or is having a discussion about marketing campaigns, accounting, legal issues, strategy planning; whatever your area of expertise, think about what you can contribute to one of the discussions.
The history of KnowHow NonProfit
Why?
As Lyndon B. Johnson famously said "There are no problems we cannot solve together, and very few that we can solve by ourselves."
It became apparent that the nonprofit sector was likely to mushroom during the recession and was not necessarily equipped with the skills they would need, nor did they have the resources required to attain them. They needed the KnowHow. The sector contains a wealth of untapped knowledge and years of experience which, if only shared, could solve the problem of this looming skills gap. We needed to get people talking!
How?
The concept of KnowHow NonProfit was born out of the Cass CCE at Cass Business School. They presented the idea to the Big Lottery Fund, who awarded a grant to create the portal. The KnowHow Team launched into the creation of the site and in October 2008, KnowHow NonProfit came into being. It has to date exceeded its scheduled visitor targets three times over and is rapidly gathering pace.
The site has been designed in partnership with a wide range of nonprofit organisations and content is being contributed and partnerships formed all the time. If you would like to propose some content for KnowHow, please get in touch with our CEO Sahara Quli, or Content Manager Madeleine Sugden at knowhow@city.ac.uk
